Bilingual primary school with all-day activities
Language competence for the future
The bilingual primary school on the Bierstadter Strasse Campus fulfils the primary schools’ fundamental mandate to provide education under section 171 of the Hessian School Act (HSchG). Accordingly, it has to provide its pupils with basic knowledge and skills and to prepare them for the following stages of their education. In addition, our bilingual primary school realises an agreement by the EU heads of state and government from 2002, which stipulates that all children in the European Union should have the opportunity to learn other languages alongside their mother tongue at an early age.
The bilingual primary school offers up to 50% of its teaching in English, applying the recognised immersion method. In addition to the extended teaching in English, the timetable contains two free-choice learning periods per week. The school is an all-day school operating until 3 p.m. including a long lunch break, and also provides afternoon supervision.
The school’s methodological and didactic approach is based on Montessori principles.
The school has four classes in parallel. Two classes are bilingual, and two classes are organised according to the Montessori concept.
