Bilingual grammar school plus
(G8/G9)
Learning in two languages
The bilingual grammar school plus on the Erbenheim Campus enables pupils to add a linguistic focus to their studies alongside their general education.
Year 5 not only includes extended English tuition, but other general subjects are also already taught in English. Lessons in English account for up to 35% of the total and some of them are taught by native speakers.
To boost their general linguistic competence, Year 5 pupils choose either Spanish or French as a second foreign language.
The criteria for admission to Year 5 at the grammar school bilingual plus are:
- Attendance at a primary school with a significant emphasis on the English language
- English language skills (level A2)
- A recommendation from the primary school attended
- A personal aptitude interview with the school head.
Attendance at the bilingual grammar school plus leads to the German Abitur (general university entrance qualification) with the additional certificate Hessische Internationale Abiturprüfung (Hessian international university entrance qualification).
