Bilingual grammar school

Choose between G8 and G9

The G9 grammar school on the Erbenheim Campus offers the ideal educational programme for many children who have completed Years 5 and 6 (which are common to all school types).

The main arguments for G9 are that the children find it easier to balance their schooling and free time, they have more time for learning the material, and are under less pressure to achieve. They receive the necessary support, they have time to practise, and the school day is not too long.

The additional G9 educational programme makes it easier for pupils who do not have a grammar school recommendation from their primary school to make the transition to a grammar school.

Parents do not now decide in Year 5 that their child will go through secondary modern school. The availability of G9 and the option of changing school tracks (which, however, has to be decided at the end of Year 6) help to make schooling less stressful and to determine the best school path for the child.

Admission requirements for the bilingual grammar school G9:

  • Transfer recommendation certificate (Versetzungszeugnis) from Year 4
  • A recommendation from the primary school to attend grammar school or a secondary modern school
  • A personal aptitude interview with the headmaster
  • Grades that are good enough for successful attendance of bilingual lessons

The Erbenheim Campus also offers the option of joining the G8 track.

Attending the bilingual grammar school plus leads to the German Abitur with the additional certificate “Hessische Internationale Abiturprüfung” (“Hessian international university entrance qualification”).
