Education and vocational training in the spirit of European integration

In 1972 Dr Karl Obermayr, the school’s founder, wrote the following in our organisation’s Articles of Association: “The aim of the school is education and vocational training in the spirit of European integration.” At that time, this was coupled with the desire for lasting peace and a life in freedom. Now the process of uniting Europe has become irreversible and a life without barriers at national borders has become the norm.

Nonetheless, a life in the heart of Europe demands additional qualifications and more flexible attitudes from each one of us: speaking other languages, mobility, studying and working in another country, dealing with the most varied mentalities and cultures, an awareness of history, finding an identity, handling new technologies and facing up to new challenges, crises and unrest in the world.

The Europa-Schule is dedicated to modern learning and living. We foster the skills children need for responsible social behaviour, their learning skills and their all-round personality development. Linguistic, artistic, technological, analytical and creative abilities are especially important in this process.

Our educational facilities range from nurseries and bilingual kindergartens to primary schools and all the way to the German Abitur (general university entrance qualification) and international vocational training. We run schools in Wiesbaden, Taunusstein, Rüsselsheim and Schwalbach am Taunus. Alongside the Europa-Schulen, we have an international school organised under state law in Schwalbach am Taunus, which places a particular emphasis on teaching in English.

Pupils at the Business School in Wiesbaden can obtain the intermediate school-leaving certificate (mittlerer Abschluss), after which they are prepared for the general entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (allgemeine Fachhochschulreife).
