Children’s day-care centre

For children aged six months until they start school

The day-care centre Im Obergrund opened in June 2008 and looks after children aged from six months to six years. The facility has a quiet location in the heart of Taunusstein-Hahn, a “town surrounded by nature”, with its own large garden and a view over the countryside.

The premises

Our attractive building has a total of seven individual group rooms which create a feeling of warmth and security for the children:

• 2 nursery groups (12 children each) for children aged 6 months to 3 years
• 2 family groups (20 children each) for children aged from 1½ to 5 years
• 2 elementary groups (25 children each) for children aged from 3 to 5 years
• 1 preschool group (25 children) for children aged from 5 to 6 years

We also have rooms for encouraging movement, creativity and rest:

• A sports and community room
• A studio for creative activities
• Sleep rooms for nursery and kindergarten children
• A learning room/library for promoting language skills and preschool work

Our additional rooms include generous open-plan spaces offering various activities, e.g. sensory bins, materials for building and exploring, a dressing-up corner for role-plays, a large light table, a music corner where the children can try out instruments, and much more besides. Hygiene and function rooms such as washing facilities, staff rooms, the kitchen and the managers’ office complete the concept. The green outdoor area covering 3,500 m² has age-appropriate equipment that encourages exercise and experiences of nature.

Educational concept

We aim to provide children with all-round support in their individual development. We combine proven educational approaches from Montessori and Reggio pedagogy with bilingual education, movement education and early musical education. By integrating recent developments and findings, we create an inspiring environment in which the children can develop their abilities and expand their curiosity and creativity.

Opening hours

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We offer flexible hours that can be adapted to your individual needs to give you the greatest possible flexibility in your daily routine.

Holiday plan

The facility remains closed on 17 working days in the year. You can find the exact dates in our holiday plan. In addition we have four pedagogy days on which the facility is also closed. These dates are posted on our calendar to inform you in good time.
