Bilingual grammar school plus G8
Learning in two languages
The grammar school bilingual plus on the Frankfurt Campus is aimed at pupils who already speak English in addition to German and are interested in bilingual schooling.
English lessons begin at an advanced level and some general subjects are also taught in English. Pupils start learning a second foreign language (French or Spanish) in Year 5. The grammar school bilingual plus ends after five years (G8). After Year 9, children with a transfer recommendation certificate continue to the grammar school sixth form or the technical college.
Alongside normal lessons, the timetable includes subject-based free-choice learning periods. During these sessions a subject teacher is present and pupils do their homework or school tasks independently. The subject-based free-choice periods of 45 minutes create a rhythm for the day’s programme.
The children have lunch together at 12:05 p.m., which is followed by coaching, special-interest groups and organised leisure activities from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to complete the academic school programme.
Requirements for admission to the grammar school bilingual plus:
- Grammar school recommendation from the primary school attended
- Advanced competence in English (approx. four years, e.g. at a bilingual primary school).
If you have any questions, the school office will be happy to answer them.
