Bilingual secondary modern school from Year 7
Schooling with practical relevance
The bilingual secondary modern school on the Neuhof Campus offers a practical education to children who have completed Years 5 and 6 (which are common to all school types). The school gives its pupils a general education and enables them to pursue a focus in line with their abilities and preferences, so that after gaining the intermediate school-leaving certificate (mittlerer Abschluss) they can continue their education in vocational training or qualify for university entrance.
Lessons at the secondary modern school are designed for clarity and practical relevance to everyday life. At the same time, its educational programme ensures that pupils have access to ways of thinking and learning which are essential for successfully attending the grammar school sixth form, the technical college, the higher vocational school or the technical secondary school.
The special feature of the secondary modern school is that the pupils acquire in-depth basic knowledge, practical skills and the ability to reflect on real-life problems. Attendance concludes with an examination that is standardised across the State of Hesse and leads to the intermediate school leaving certificate. Children who demonstrate aptitude may transition to the grammar school sixth form or the technical college to study for the general university entrance qualification (allgemeine Hochschulreife), or to the technical secondary school / higher vocational school to study for the general entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (allgemeine Fachhochschulreife).
